Cell Phones

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Today’s cell phone users are constantly bombarded with new models; new ideas for their use is put into the latest model, often without any real need. There is much misinformation out there, which needs to be looked at before buying a cellular phone; some interesting buying facts are supplied in this article.

Battery life is always an issue and even though they last longer (and are smaller), they have much more to do, so always leaving your phone until it is almost drained of power can cause problems. There is nothing worse than finding out your cell phone battery is no longer holding a charge for very long as you seem to be recharging it constantly and you will probably need a new one.

There are several ways to prolong the life of your cell phone battery; Keep your back light off unless you know for sure you’ll need it and whilst this might be annoying at first it will save battery life. Actually talking on the phone uses the most power when it is being operated as it is being used as a transmitter so reduce the length of calls and turn it off if you find yourself in an area with poor reception as the cell phone battery will drain itself trying to find a signal. When ever you use your cell phone; talking, playing games, listening to music, taking picture with the flash or surfing the Internet, it will drain the battery faster so limit these activities otherwise you may not be able to make that urgent call you need.

Whilst downloading new ring tones and wallpaper is a great idea, many people are given free sample but forget they will be charged for the rest that are download automatically, sometimes without their knowledge. For parents buying a phone for their child, most companies will now allow them to disable this download function so only the mother or father has control over it via a password feature that the child cannot override.

The two man types of agreements for cell phone users are pay-per use and a monthly contract which can run for one or two years but which option you decide upon will depend on how often you intend to use it. Only you will know how often you make calls and how long they are on average but the pay-per use agreement is probably not going to be the most cost effective if you are someone who uses the phone a great deal. You will find that as a kind of ‘thank-you’ for taking out a longer running contract, many of the latest feature will be included in the package.

It is always a good idea once you are happy that your plan supplies everything you need so check the small print in case there are any further costs not immediately apparent that will be payable once you have signed on the dotted line. Don’t forget to find out what insurance cover you have if your new phone is lost or damaged. An insurance warranty is something that brings pace of mind when the chance of damaging or losing something so small is so easily done.

If you decide to buy your cell phone on the Internet, make sure it is not an old or outgoing model unless you do not mind of course; otherwise you may find it doesn’t have all the features you want included.

Are you blogging ?

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

If you are not blogging, then you are not cutting edge internet.

The search engines love blogs. Blogs are updated content. Blogs are human edited content.

There are always bad people out there trying to trick the search engines. Why do I call these bad people ?

Search engines exist to serve the public domain. The public expects to be able to go to the search engine and use it just like a library. You go into a library and you search for books about automobiles… you expect to find books like that… and you will find books like that.

Now, imagine if there were people who would infiltrate the library and place their advertisements trying to sell you stuff into the books slots… so that when you went to find your book on classic cars, instead you got a big bunch of advertisements trying to sell you parts… but, no books on classic cars… how upset would you be ?

Well, this is what these black hat SEO people are like… nice people go to search engines, and try to find information about classic cars… and instead of getting to sites with that information, they are tricked into going to a site that is just full of advertisements…

and, this is why search engines love blogs… blogs are real time, up to date, human edited content… answering questions, and providing real stuff to real people…

so blog away bloggers and search engines… keep giving us the love!
